Giorgio opened the doors of La Bella Vita in 1978, bringing Italian fine dining to the heart of historic Hitchin. Originally from Venice, Giorgio was, and still is, passionate about offering authentic Venetian cuisine to UK diners.
Giorgio gained experience as a chef in world-renowned Italian restaurants, such as La Colomba and Hotel Danieli. These San Marco restaurants in Venice very much shaped Giorgio's culinary passion. The menu offered in La Bella Vita restaurant remains, to this day, heavily influenced by them, albeit with a modern twist to ensure the food at La Bella Vita is always exciting and eclectic.
Giorgio is also an expert somelier, having sourced wine for restaurant cellars since 1971. The extensive wine list wine list at La Bella Vita reflects his knowledge and passion, with many of the speciality wines hand-selected by Giorgio from top European vineyards.
